For many types of cancer, surgery remains the main treatment, although it is often combined with chemotherapy and / or radiation treatment. Close collaboration between oncologists and surgeons is essential to ensure the best possible results for the patients
With all treatment modalities under one roof, VRCC has a distinct advantage as the oncologists can cooperate with the surgeons to formulate the best possible plan for each and every patient.
When treating cancer with surgery, the first chance is usually the best chance (if not the ONLY chance). It is therefore of paramount importance to get it right at the first opportunity. Oncologic surgery requires an extremely good knowledge of anatomy, adherence to certain rules, as well as experience and skill to provide the best possible results. VRCC’s surgeons (Dr Henry L’Eplattenier, Dr MedVet, PhD, Dipl, ECVS,MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and Laurent Findjii, DVM, MS, Dipl ECVS, MRCVS, European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery) are experienced and trained to the highest level and collaborate with a Specialist Anaesthetist and dedicated staff to provide intensive care to our patients both during and after procedures.
In order to get it right the first time, it is essential to visualise the cancer in 3D so that the operation can be planned with precision. VRCC are the only UK centre with a CT Scanner and Radiotherapy on-site, proof of our continual investment and desire to provide our clients with the very best and latest service.
